9,445 new cases in the state


Kerala recorded 9,445 new cases of COVID-19 when 82,689 samples were tested in the past 24 hours.

As of Wednesday, the state’s active case pool numbered 76,554 patients, with 6,723 people believed to have recovered from the disease that day.

According to the Ministry of Health, only 9.4% of active cases are currently in hospitals or field hospitals such as first line / second line COVID treatment centers

The official cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths now stands at 29,977, with the state adding 622 deaths to the official death list on Wednesday. These include 93 deaths that occurred in the last few days, 330 unreported deaths from the period before June 2021 and 199 deaths that have now been accepted as COVID deaths by the government in accordance with new guidelines from the Center and as a result of appeals filed by families.

The current occupancy of intensive care units by COVID patients in public and private hospitals fell below 2,000 to 1,177 on Wednesday. The number of patients requiring respiratory assistance was 462.

As of Wednesday, the number of newly admitted patients to hospitals was 619. The total number of people currently admitted with moderate or severe COVID to state hospitals fell to 8,280.

The state’s cumulative case burden since the start of the pandemic now stands at 49,38,603 cases.

Among the districts, Ernakulam reported the highest number of 1,517 new cases, Thiruvananthapuram 1,284, Kozhikode 961, Thrissur 952, Kottayam 840, Kollam 790, Idukki 562, Pathanamthitta 464, Malappuram 441, Kannur 422, Palakappuzha 393 340, Wayanad 333, Kasaragod 146 cases.
