Associate Rector – Episcopal Information Service

The historic St. Anne’s Parish in downtown Annapolis, Maryland, founded in 1692, is founded on the Church’s mission to restore unity for all with God and with one another in Christ. Pursuing this mission through daily prayer, worship, the proclamation of the gospel and the promotion of the common good, our vision is to build, engage, evangelize and train mission-oriented disciples of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. .

In accordance with our mission, Saint Anne is in discernment to call a dynamic, experienced Associate Rector, anchored in the sacraments, who has a passion for evangelization. In addition to sharing sacramental and pastoral responsibilities within a clergy team currently made up of two full-time priests, the main responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Liturgical responsibilities
  • Liturgical responsibilities include sacramental duties and the preaching of homilies and sermons in several weekend and weekday services.
  • Responsibilities for training and awareness
    • Oversee the training of youth in grades 6 to 12.
  • Assist with the incorporation of new members, ministry to deceased members, and the development of lay leaders, all along with other staff;
  • Advocate for the common good in partnership with heads of mission, outreach, ecumenical and interfaith;
  • Support the missionaries of Saint Anne who are involved in local, regional and international mission through established partnerships; and,
  • Work with other parish committees and groups, as negotiated with the rector.
  • Pastoral
  • Share pastoral responsibilities with the Rector and Senior Associate Rector, including visitation (homes, hospitals, nursing homes, offices), calls, individual and family counseling, and providing spiritual guidance and direction.

Salary and other remuneration

This is a full time position; as such, a salary commensurate with experience and expertise will be offered. Other benefits, meeting the standards of the Diocese of Maryland and the Church Pension Group, are also included. No moving costs will be provided.

Working environment

Dedicated office space, online meetings by videoconference and conference call, gatherings and conferences. The Sainte-Anne parish house is a century-old house with stairs and no elevator. Located on Duke of Gloucester Street, it is subject to noise from tourists, automobiles and maintenance equipment.
