Four vehicles belonging to two BJP officials and a Hindu Munnani official were damaged by unidentified people in Pollachi, Coimbatore district in the early hours of Friday.

The incidents were reported hours after bottles filled with fuel were thrown at the BJP Coimbatore office and a textile showroom on Oppanakara Street in the city on Thursday night.

Police said thugs damaged a car belonging to Ponraj, a BJP official in charge of the southern district of Coimbatore, early on Friday. The car was parked in front of his residence at Azhagappa Layout in Kumaran Nagar, Pollachi. The windshields and door windows were damaged.

The second car that was damaged belonged to BJP official Sivakumar on the way to VSV Marriage Hall in Kumaran Nagar. According to the police, miscreants threw a plastic sheet filled with diesel at the car.

They damaged the car’s windshield and door windows, apparently after their failed attempt to set the vehicle on fire. Mr Sivakumar told police that two men were found driving away in a two-wheeler.

Police said a Munnani Hindu official from Kumaran Nagar, namely Saravanakumar, also complained that unidentified people damaged two autorickshaws belonging to his family, which were parked in front of the house, early on Friday.
