Ed Stetzer Expands Role With Outreach Inc.
Respected author and missiologist joins outreach team to amplify the gospel
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Since July 1, missiologist, evangelist, researcher, author, preacher and regular Sensitization magazine contributor Ed Stetzer will join the team as editor of Outreach media group and editor of Sensitization magazine. Stetzer will provide editorial direction, helping these platforms continue to equip the Church for greater evangelical impact.
âI look forward to working with the teams of Sensitization magazine, ChurchLeaders.com and Sermon Central to ask how we could best do what the author of Hebrews said to do: ‘Challenge one another to love and good deeds’ (Heb. 10: 24), âStetzer said. âOutreach helps Christians reach our neighbors and our contexts with the good news of the gospel. It has been my passion for years and I am delighted to team up now.
Stetzer is dean and professor at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill., Where he is executive director of the Wheaton College Billy Graham Center. In addition, he is Regional Director of Lausanne North America, publishes research through Mission Group, is the founding editor of The Gospel Project, writes frequently for media such as USA today and CNN, and is currently an Acting Pastor Teacher at Calvary Baptist Church in New York City. Previously, he was Executive Director of Lifeway Research and Missiologist-in-Residence for Lifeway and the North American Mission Board, in addition to being Editor-in-Chief for Christianity today. He is a frequent guest speaker at many Outreach 100 churches.
During his long ministry career, Stetzer has established himself as a trusted voice in the fields of church planting, evangelism, missiology and cultural engagement.
âThere are very few people who are more aligned with our values, our theology, our direction and our direction than Ed Stetzer,â says Steve Foster, COO of Outreach Inc. âHis voice in Christian leadership circles is strong, respected, thoughtful and always focused on the practical fulfillment of the Great Commission.
Stetzer joins the Sensitization magazine team following the sudden death of Editor-in-Chief James P. Long, who died of heart failure on April 30. For years, Stetzer was part of the magazine as a regular columnist and editor, and was instrumental in spearheading the partnership between Sensitization magazine and the Wheaton College Billy Graham Center which led to the upcoming Amplify Outreach conference. Now he is eager to deepen his connection with the magazine.
“We need a seductive voice like Sensitization magazine to help us navigate confusing cultural times, âsays Stetzer. âLongtime editor James Long kept reminding us of the call and the mission. With his passing, I just thought it was the right time to carry on this legacy and continue this mission. “
Stetzer’s goal reflects Outreach Inc.’s mission to “equip the church to reach people with the gospel of Jesus Christ.” Together, they hope to reach more people than ever with this life-transforming message.
âWe look forward to seeing how God will use Ed’s gifts to equip the church,â says Foster. “I have no doubt that God will use it to express hope and encouragement to a larger audience than ever before.”
