India’s historic Road to 1000 released

Sportsstar and the Hindu group released a coffee table book, “Road to 1000”, during the 2022 Sportsstar Aces Awards at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel here on Saturday.

The book is a special collection of 520 pages with 1000 images to commemorate the journey of Indian cricket.

“Road to 1000” was posted by former Indian cricketers Sunil Gavaskar, Syed Kirmani, Dilip Vengsarkar, Mohammad Azharuddin, Chandrakant Pandit and Nilesh Kulkarni here.

First to milestone

On February 6, India played their 1,000th ODI against West Indies in Ahmedabad, becoming the first team to record the feat.

India’s World Cup victories in 1983 and 2011, under Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni respectively, remain major highlights in India’s ODI history.

“Putting this book out has been an incredible journey. We started working on it four months ago. We dug deep into our archives and our photographers worked day and night to select the best photos. Our Sportstar reporters and photographers traveled the world covering the Indian cricket team in the 1980s and 1990s.

“It’s the best tribute to Indian cricket,” said Ayon Sengupta, editor of Sportstar.
