Late entrepreneur Santosh Patil’s wife calls for CBI investigation
Jayashree Patil, wife of civilian contractor and BJP worker Santosh Patil, who ended her life after accusing former minister KS Eshwarappa of corruption, has requested a CBI investigation into her husband’s death.
“We have no faith in the state police who made a clean phone call to Mr. Eshwarappa. We demand a CBI investigation into the incident. We suspect the former minister influenced the investigation. Also, the investigation was not conducted properly,” she said.
“Udupi Police gave us three notices in 10 days asking to provide evidence. In response to this, we planned to go to Udupi this month. But they kicked the former minister It shows they didn’t do the investigation properly,” she said.
Police said the suicide note written by Santosh Patil was not acceptable as it was not handwritten. “I ask them that we are all going to commit suicide now, after writing notes with our own handwriting. Will they accept this? she told reporters in Badas village, Belagavi district.
She said investigators destroyed evidence found on Santosh Patil’s phone. “I had written to the Governor a few days ago, saying that Mr. Eshwarappa was influencing the investigation. Now I will write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I will also go to court if necessary,” she said.
