KISHTWAR: Member of National Commission for Minorities (NCM), Rinchen Lhamo today visited Gulab Garh Paddar of Kishtwar and had interaction with Himalayan Buddhist Cultural Society (HBCS) Paddar and others minority communities.
She was accompanied by SDM Paddar Rishi Kumar Sharma; Kishtwar District Social Welfare Officer, Zubair Ahmed; CDPO Drabshalla, Farhat Shamim and others concerned.
In her welcome address, the President of the Buddhist Cultural Society of the Himalayas, Paddar Padma Laton, appreciated Lhamo’s inaugural visit to Paddar and the kind concern for the welfare of minorities in the Paddar region.
While addressing the meeting, NCM member Rinchen Lhamo, who was the chief guest on the occasion, spoke about the National Minorities Commission’s goals in safeguarding the interests of minorities and uplifting them with various social protection programs.
She added that the Minority Commission is always ready to address their grievances and work for their well-being in any way possible.
She also talked about various social, educational and economic programs for the welfare of various minority communities.
She gave details of various social welfare schemes and scholarships from the Ministry of Minority Affairs, GoI and insisted on outreach based on mission mode so that the benefits trickle down to the ground level.
On this occasion, the local representatives of the minority community raised various issues with the member of the National Commission for Minorities and submitted their memorandum.
Taking note of their issues, Rinchen Lhamo assured them that their issues would be resolved at the earliest.
A congratulatory ceremony for minority school teachers and social workers was also held on this occasion.
