Wendy welcomed to Lower Earley care home

STAFF at a Lower Earley-based retirement home have welcomed their new manager.

Last month, Wendy Browne Mapasa joined the 80-bed Austen House, owned by Barchester Healthcare. She oversees a team of nurses, carers, housekeeping and support staff.

She arrives at the nursing home after working in a hospital, overseeing the management of children’s services.

“I am thrilled to join the team here at Austen House and enjoy meeting and getting to know our residents,” she said. “I look forward to running this home and continuing to provide high quality care.”

And Jo Fitzgerald, Regional Operations Manager at Austen House, said she was delighted to welcome Ms Browne Mapasa to the team, saying she would be a big hit with residents.

Part of her job will be to manage resident routines.

“Our varied life enrichment program keeps residents active and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities,” she explained.
