Workshop for local elected officials


A workshop for newly elected representatives of local bodies of Tirunelveli and Tenkasi districts was held here on Wednesday by the Integrated Child Development Program to enlighten them on child health issues prevalent in the district.

Opening the event, the Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Assembly, Mr. Appavu, said that the representatives of the local bodies, including the District Panchayat Chairman, Vice Chairman, Panchayat Trade Union Chairmen, Vice Presidents and other elected local bodies should work hand in hand with Integrated Child Development Program officers to ensure the holistic development of children, especially children from backward villages.

Since previous surveys had given the opinion that the districts of Tirunelveli and Tenkasi were home to weak and dwarfed children, representatives of local agencies should work intensively with those responsible for the integrated child development program to improve their conditions. health.

In addition, representatives of local organizations should give the highest priority to ensure drinking water, toilets, electricity, nutritional garden, etc. in all schools and anganvadis in Tirunelveli and Tenkasi districts.

“If attention is required to repair toilets or drinking water supply systems, it must be rectified immediately and without delay,” Mr Appavu said.
